Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On the 21st October of 2016 she debuted Pho the debut EP on the label Dreamville Records. This was when she gained her first recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, came out on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox published her first music online in 2012. The singer released her debut album five singles in 2013 and Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. She continued to share her music over the internet, including her independently released single Bound. Her music was also featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes which was released at Sweat It out on 21 July 2015. Later that year her music circulated around the Dreamville team because J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him for some possible references for Rihanna. On December 8 it was reported that she had officially signed by Dreamville Records. The singer appeared in the album collaboration Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. On October 21 2016 she dropped her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer on behalf of J. Cole on his song Change in 2017 and also was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she was able to be a guest in two songs featuring her labelmates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on the 5th of September. In November, she released the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13 she debuted two more singles entitled One and Pdigree. One as well as Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby was released with her debut single February 26, 2019 to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby made an appearance together with Cole as part of The Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. The track was accompanied by the music video which debuted on February 20, 2019, which it surpassed 3 million views on YouTube in one week. In December 2018, she performed as part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
